Early voting for the Nov. 3 general election begins Saturday, Oct. 24\. Webster voters can vote early at the Webster Justice Court Building, 1002 Ridge Road, or at any other early voting site in Monroe County. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3, and polls are open 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Saturday, Oct. 24, is also a deadline. Under the state Board of Elections' 2026 political calendar, voter registrations must be received by the Monroe County Board of Elections by that day. So must mail ballot applications sent by mail or made online.

## Early voting

Early voting runs Saturday, Oct. 24, through Sunday, Nov. 1\. The county Board of Elections lists these early voting hours:

- **Saturday, Oct. 24, and Sunday, Oct. 25:** 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- **Monday, Wednesday and Friday, Oct. 26, 28 and 30:** 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- **Tuesday and Thursday, Oct. 27 and 29:** noon to 8 p.m.
- **Saturday, Oct. 31, and Sunday, Nov. 1:** 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

There is no early voting on Monday, Nov. 2.

The board says voters can choose any of the county's 15 early voting locations. Besides Webster's, they include these two:

- Penfield Community Center Braman Room, 1985 Baird Road, Penfield
- Irondequoit Community Center, 450 Skyview Centre Parkway, Suite 200, Rochester

All 15 are on the board's [early voting page](https://www.monroecounty.gov/elections-earlyvoting?ref=websterledger.com) and its [early voting map flyer](https://www.monroecounty.gov/files/boe/Community%20Outreach/Early%20Voting/EV-Map%20-%20GE26%20ENG%20%28Rev%209-30-26%29.pdf?ref=websterledger.com).

Every early voting site will have a Spanish-language interpreter, the board says. It lists an ASL interpreter at three sites: the Monroe County Office Building, Brighton Farmers Market and Henrietta Public Library.

If you vote early, you can't vote again on Election Day, the board says.

## Registering to vote

The county's [registration page](https://www.monroecounty.gov/elections-registration?ref=websterledger.com) links to the state's online registration and to printable forms. A paper form needs an original signature, so it has to be mailed or brought to the Board of Elections, the page says.

You can check your registration with the board's [voter lookup](https://www.monroecounty.gov/elections-voter?ref=websterledger.com). If you've moved, contact the Board of Elections to update your address before you vote. Affidavit ballots, also called provisional ballots, are available at early voting sites and on Election Day, the board says, so voters can complete a ballot even if for some reason they are not in its files.

## Voting by mail

Any registered voter can request an early mail ballot without giving a reason. An absentee ballot requires one of the reasons the board lists, such as being away from the county on Election Day or an illness or disability that keeps you from the polls.

Deadlines to apply for either ballot:

- **By mail or online:** received by the board by Saturday, Oct. 24.
- **In person at the Board of Elections:** Monday, Nov. 2.

The county's [absentee voting page](https://www.monroecounty.gov/elections-absentee?ref=websterledger.com) links to the state's online application.

To return a ballot:

- **By mail:** it must be postmarked by Election Day, Nov. 3\. The state calendar says the county board must receive it by Tuesday, Nov. 10.
- **In person:** every polling site has a ballot drop box during early voting and on Election Day, the county board says. The state calendar's deadline to deliver a ballot to the board or a poll site in the county is close of polls on Election Day.

In a June 9 release ahead of the June primary, the state Board of Elections urged voters to return mail ballots early. Under updated U.S. Postal Service guidance, a postmark reflects the date mail is processed at a postal facility rather than the date it was deposited in the mail, the release said. It said the postal changes do not alter New York's election laws. Voters mailing close to the deadline can ask for a hand-stamped postmark at a USPS retail counter at no charge, it said.

If you request an early mail or absentee ballot for the Nov. 3 election and then decide to vote in person, you can't vote on a voting machine. You can still vote in person with an affidavit ballot, the board's early voting page says. Its absentee page adds that if your absentee ballot has been received, the affidavit ballot will not be counted. If it hasn't, the affidavit ballot will be considered.

## Election Day

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3\. Polls are open 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., according to the county Board of Elections.

On Election Day, vote at your polling place. Find it by entering your street number, street name, ZIP code, last name and date of birth in the board's [voter lookup](https://www.monroecounty.gov/elections-voter?ref=websterledger.com).

The board says polling sites are inspected for ADA accessibility, a friend, relative or election inspector can help you vote, and an accessible ballot marking device is available at early voting and on Election Day.

## Contact the Board of Elections

The Monroe County Board of Elections is at 435 Smith St., Rochester. Its phone number is 585-753-1550\. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
