The Webster Town Board holds a public hearing on the town's 2027 preliminary budget at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, at 1002 Ridge Road. Any person may be heard in favor of or against the budget. On Tuesday, Oct. 13, the town Zoning Board of Appeals meets at 7 p.m. Both Verizon tower applications were tabled to that date at the board's Sept. 8 meeting. This edition covers the 12 days from Monday, Oct. 12, through Friday, Oct. 23.

The 2027 town budget hearing

The preliminary budget is on file with the Town Clerk and available for public inspection during regular office hours.

A Town Board workshop starts at 6:30 p.m. and the Town Board meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 15, both in the Town Board Meeting Room at 1002 Ridge Road. Speakers at the hearing get five minutes each. A resolution to adopt the town's 2027 final budget is on the meeting's agenda.

The Verizon towers

At its Sept. 8 meeting, the town Zoning Board of Appeals tabled both Verizon tower applications to its Oct. 13 meeting.

The town Zoning Board of Appeals meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, in the Town Board Meeting Room at 1002 Ridge Road. Six applications are on the agenda, including both Verizon tower applications under "Tabled Matters."

  • Monday, Oct. 12. Webster Town Hall, 1000 Ridge Road, is closed and reopens for regular hours Tuesday, Oct. 13. Village offices are closed. The Webster Central School District has no school for prekindergarten through 12th grade. The Webster Public Library is closed.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 13. The Webster Central School District Board of Education holds a regular business meeting at 5 p.m. in the second-floor Professional Development Center, 119 South Ave. The meeting's topic is "AI & Instructional Tech." Regular business meetings are livestreamed at websterschools.org/boemeetings. Anyone who wants to address the board should register with the district clerk by noon on the meeting day.   • Wednesday, Oct. 14. The library's Board of Trustees meets at 7 p.m. in the Large Study Room (Blue). The meeting is open to the public.
  • Thursday, Oct. 15. The Town Board workshop is at 6:30 p.m., and the meeting and budget hearing are at 7:30 p.m. (see above). The village Zoning Board of Appeals meets at 6:30 p.m. in the Village of Webster Community Meeting Hall, 29 South Ave. All board meetings are streamed live on the village's Facebook page.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 21. There is a Conservation Board meeting at 6:30 p.m. The town's calendar listing gave no street address when the Ledger checked Oct. 9.
  • Thursday, Oct. 22. The West Webster Fire District's Board of Fire Commissioners holds a public hearing on the district's proposed budget at 5:30 p.m. at the West Webster Fire Station, 1051 Gravel Road. Any person may be heard in favor of or against the proposed budget. The Village Board meets at 6:30 p.m. in the Village of Webster Community Meeting Hall, 29 South Ave.
  • Friday, Oct. 23. A Family Carving Night for Pumpkins on Parade, program 301208-A, runs from 6 to 8 p.m. Everyone is welcome, the cost is $5 and registration is required. The town's fall program guide does not list a location.

At the library

Programs at the Webster Public Library, 980 Ridge Road, include these:

  • Tuesday, Oct. 13, 1 to 4 p.m. Short Films from the Rochester Intl. Film Festival, in the Community Room. The films are intended for adults 18 and older, and no registration is required.
  • Thursday, Oct. 15, 1 to 2 p.m. The Lunchtime Book Discussion, on "The Man Who Could Move Clouds," in the Large Study Room (Blue). No registration is necessary.
  • Friday, Oct. 16, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Library Trick-or-Treat!, a trick-or-treat trail through the library with a maze at the end.
  • Saturday, Oct. 17, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A Halloween Drop-In Craft in the Storytime Room. All ages are welcome, and no registration is required.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 21, through Friday, Oct. 23. The Friends of the Webster Public Library fall book sale, in the Community Room. The Wednesday session, 4 to 7 p.m., is for Friends members only; memberships are sold online and at the door. The Thursday session, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., is open to anyone. The Friday session, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., is a bring-your-own-bag day at $5 a bag.

Looking ahead: Saturday, Oct. 24

  • Drug take-back. A fall drug take-back day runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Webster Justice Court, 1002 Ridge Road, behind Webster Town Hall and the Police Department. It is a drive-through event, with no appointment or registration needed.
  • Early voting. Early voting in the 2026 general election runs from Saturday, Oct. 24, through Sunday, Nov. 1. The Webster Justice Court Building, 1002 Ridge Road, is an early voting site, with Saturday hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eligible voters can vote at any early voting site in the county.   • Book sale. The book sale's last session is a bring-your-own-bag sale from 10 a.m. to noon in the library's Community Room, at $5 a bag. Anyone is welcome.
  • Pumpkins on Parade. Pumpkins on Parade runs from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on the Chiyoda Trail at the Webster Recreation Center, 1350 Chiyoda Drive. The event is free and open to the public, with no registration required.
