# Goats are coming to Milton Case Park, village says

An estimated 12 goats from Kaizen Ridge Farm in Victor will arrive at Milton Case Park this month to graze invasive vegetation, according to the Village of Webster's [Sept. 8 newsletter](https://www.villageofwebsterny.gov/uploads/1/4/9/4/149477158/9.8.2026%5Fnewsletter.pdf?ref=websterledger.com).

The goats will be taking up residence in the park "to help clear areas around the park and trail," the newsletter says. The goats will be eating their way through "11 acres of invasive vegetation" and will remain on site for the grazing project, which "is expected to take a few weeks."

The [village parks page](https://www.villageofwebsterny.gov/parks.html?ref=websterledger.com) lists the park as Milton R. Case Memorial Park, located between South Avenue and Wood Street. The newsletter places the park off South Avenue next to Spry Middle School. Case Park is one of the parks the village [maintains separately from the town](https://websterledger.com/webster-town-village-diverge-cooperate/).

The goats will be "safely contained inside an electric fence," the newsletter says. The newsletter asks: "Please do not try to pet the goats, or tamper with the fence," and "Please keep your dog on a leash while in the park."

Under the heading "Why Goats?" the newsletter describes goat landscaping as "a natural way to manage land without chemicals, heavy machinery, or fuel." The newsletter lists poison ivy, multiflora rose and Japanese knotweed among the plants goats have "a particular fondness for."

The same newsletter page says the village Department of Public Works "is bringing on new staff this fall, to assist in clearing the brush and poison ivy" at the park.
