The Village Board signed initial consultant agreements Aug. 13 for three of the 11 NY Forward projects New York state selected for the Village of Webster, according to the village's Sept. 8 newsletter.

All three, which the newsletter says the village will oversee, cover Veterans Memorial Park, wayfinding signage and a marketing platform.

According to the newsletter, there will be upcoming opportunities for public engagement with the three projects, and more information will be shared "as the process gets underway with NY State."

The newsletter says the village was awarded $4.5 million in grant funding in 2024 through NY Forward, a community revitalization program. The village used an open call for project proposals to identify potential projects that "could have a transformative impact on the Village of Webster."

In 2025, New York state selected 11 projects to receive NY Forward funding. The governor's office announced the Webster projects May 23, 2025, in a release that lists all 11 projects with a funding amount for each.

The three projects

The dollar figures below come from the state's May 2025 announcement, which lists NY Forward funding for each project as a whole. Together, the three projects account for about $1.55 million of the $4.5 million total the announcement lists for all 11 Webster projects.

Veterans Memorial Park. The newsletter gives the park's address as 28 North Ave. and says the project would serve two aims through improvements to the park that "will optimize it for use as a performance venue and enhance ADA accessibility in the park." The state's announcement lists the project as "Enhance Veterans Memorial Park for Events and Community Use," with $1.1 million in NY Forward funding.

Wayfinding signage. According to the newsletter, the project would install wayfinding signage "at key locations throughout the Village to provide directional and locational information to visitors and to strengthen downtown Webster's sense of place." The state's announcement lists $381,000 in NY Forward funding for the project.

Marketing. The newsletter says this project would develop a platform for information on parking, events and promotions, along with digital marketing content to "promote the Village and enhance awareness of businesses." The state's announcement lists the project as "Invest in Marketing for Downtown Webster," with $70,000 in NY Forward funding.
