Willink Middle School construction is underway as part of Webster's $85 million bond

Construction crews have broken ground on a new classroom addition at Willink Middle School, the clearest sign yet that Webster Central School District's $85 million "Building Our Future" bond has moved from blueprints to physical work this summer.
The addition is being built for the district's OWL (One Webster Learning) Middle School Program, according to the district's own construction updates for the building. WCSD describes OWL as a special education program that integrates social emotional learning with academics and related services, one the district says lets it keep students in its own buildings instead of referring them to a program outside the district. The program currently spills into hallway space, and the new southeast-wing addition is designed to give it dedicated classrooms.
Elsewhere in the building, WCSD says it is adding a new bathroom on the second floor and overhauling the main office, including new wiring, lighting, and a renovated conference room. The district's page for the building also lists a canopy project among the work underway, though it has not published details on that piece.
An $85 million bond, approved in 2023
Webster voters approved the Building Our Future bond on Oct. 11, 2023, authorizing $85 million in capital work across all 11 WCSD buildings: seven elementary schools, Spry and Willink middle schools, and Webster Schroeder and Webster Thomas high schools. According to the district's bond materials, the Willink addition is the only entirely new construction in the whole program; the rest of the bond funds renovations and replacements such as roofs, elevators, lighting, and bus loops. District materials from 2023 said the borrowing was structured so the project would have no impact on the tax levy, combining state aid with money already set aside in the district's capital reserve.
More work bid for future summers
According to a summary of the district's December 2025 board meeting, the WCSD Board of Education accepted bids for what was described as a multi-year package of capital work covering three summers. The package includes projects at Spry and Thomas, roof work, and other smaller-dollar work. The district has not published a building-by-building schedule showing which of those projects will happen this summer as opposed to 2027 or 2028.
Already finished: Schroeder's Phase 1 work
At Webster Schroeder High School, bond-funded work described on the district's site is already done. WCSD says the south athletic parking lot has been fully restored, interior ceilings and lighting have been upgraded, and new accessibility buttons are active at the main entrance and bus loop.
